Category auto-suggestion

In simple terms: the app suggests a category (tag) for a new transaction based on its description—without artificial intelligence, only using your rules and your history. Nothing is sent to external services.

The main points in a nutshell

• When you enter a description for a new transaction, a suggestion might appear under the field: "Suggested category: + Name". Click on it—the tag will be added to the transaction. If you don't want it, click the cross, and the suggestion will disappear.
• The suggestion is deterministic: it comes from (1) your rules like "always categorize this as…", (2) your history—if you've often marked similar transactions with the same tag, and (3) a small built-in directory of known merchants (e.g., "Walmart" → "Groceries"), but only if you already have such a tag.
• This works both in the web version and in the mobile app—the chip suggestion appears in the transaction form.
• If you create a transaction without a single tag (e.g., via integration/API), the app may assign a tag itself when it's confident (based on a rule or consistent history). Tags you explicitly select are never overwritten.

How a "confident" suggestion differs from a "guess"

• Rule / History — solid colored chip: the app is confident. Such a tag can be assigned automatically.
• Known Merchant — dashed chip: this is a guess-suggestion. It is never assigned automatically—only upon your click.

How to "teach" the app

The category selection becomes more accurate over time: the more often you mark similar transactions with the same tag, the more reliable the history becomes. A "always do this" rule is created from a suggestion/settings and instantly starts working for the same description.

Privacy

No AI and no data being sent out: the selection is calculated on our server using your team's data. The feature is included in paid plans (suggestions are not shown on the free plan).
